Purpose: This program is designed to provide basic skill development and competence for students seeking a career in electronics
or related technologies. Occupational Objectives: Students completing this program will have basic skills for an entry-level job in electronics
technology or a related field, such as industrial electronics, PC hardware
upgrade and repair, or home entertainment/security systems. Admission Requirements: General college curricular admission Program Notes: In addition to general college
curricular admission, applicants
to this program will have (a) completed placement testing and (b) met with
their advisor to establish a planned course of study prior to being allowed to register for courses. Proficiency in
arithmetic is required to begin this program, and students not meeting this
requirement must successfully complete MTH
2 or an equivalent course
before beginning the ETR course sequence. MTH 3 (Algebra I) and MTH 4
(Algebra II), or equivalent, must be completed as co-requisites for other
courses in the program. Students interested in proceeding beyond the career studies certificate should consult with an advisor or counselor
beginning the program.
Recommended course sequencing, by
semester, is shown by the numbers 1, 2, and 3 in parentheses after the
course title in the curriculum listing below. Students should allow
time in their planned course sequencing for any developmental mathematics or
English courses that may be required to meet program prerequisites or
