Guranteed Transfer Admission!

Virginia's community colleges offer Guaranteed Transfer Admission!students more than the opportunity to earn a degree or certificate; they provide a gateway to the Commonwealth's four-year colleges.

Through system-wide negotiated agreements, students who graduate from a Virginia community college with an associate's degree and a minimum grade point average are guaranteed admission to many of the Commonwealth's colleges and universities, including the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary.

If your goal is to complete a four-year degree, take the first steps by working with a transfer specialist to develop a plan that's just for you:
  • Research the four-year colleges and universities
  • Understand the requirements of the Guaranteed Admissions Agreements
  • Choose a transfer associate degree program
  • Select a major at the community college that will align with the major at the four-year institution
  • Graduate from the community college with an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts and Sciences degree
In addition to the Guaranteed Transfer Admissions agreements offered through the Virginia Community College System, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College has unique agreements with many senior institutions covering the conditions for student transfer from the College to a baccalaureate program at the four-year college or university.  These formal arrangements are referred to as articulations agreements.
