Planning + Follow up = Success Paying for college requires a certain amount of advance planning whether you are paying for classes from your own savings, using your credit card, or relying on financial aid to pay for everything. Hints and Tips: - Do the FAFSA every year on or before April 15.
- We have additional final deadlines for loans, check our website for more information.
- Get to know us! Find out the names of the Financial Aid specialists on your campus. We are your partners in this process and want to help you.
- Take notes from your in-person or phone conversations.
- Well prepared students start the financial aid process 8 – 12 months in advance of their first day of classes.
- Follow up with the financial aid office within a month of submitting the FAFSA.
- Do FAFSA on the web. It does error checking and the results come to the college within THREE days.
- Review our website, it is full of useful information.
- Make a Financial Aid folder, and keep all letters, copies of taxes, and notes in the folder.
- Balance work, family and school. Select a realistic course load. Financial Aid cannot replace all of your lost income if you quit working to go back to school. Plan ahead.
