Path to Industry Certification

Path to Industry Certification (P2IC) is part of Senior Year Plus and is intended for high-school seniors who are not planning to continue their education beyond high school and are unprepared to enter an occupation or technical career upon graduation.

Prior to the Fall 2005 semester, the college received 109 “compacts” signed by interested students, their parents, and school district representatives. Under these agreements, the students can participate in designated licensure preparation and certification programs offered by the community college. The program offerings include: Food Protection, Welding, Nurse Aide, Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Technician, Microsoft Office specializations, Computer TIA A+, Internet and Computing, Customer Service, Child Development, Phlebotomy, Real Estate, and Commercial Truck Driving. These certifications require one to four courses as well as successful completion of licensure exams. Students must complete the program requirements by May in the year following their graduation from high school.

For additional information, please visit the Virginia Community College System’s Workforce Development Services website (and click on “Path to Industry Certification”) or see your high school counselor.
