Sargeant Reynolds Community College Police will strive to meet and exceed the challenges facing us each and every day. To accomplish this, the department will implement several programs including a newly created Children and Police Engaged in Learning, Personal Safety, Community Watch, Law N You, Senior Citizen Safety, and Bicycle Safety to name a few. I would like to emphasize that the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Police Department will strive to hire the best and brightest officers and we will always seek candidates with outstanding qualities. We look for officers that demonstrate integrity and responsibility; are community orientated, and can appreciate diversity. Officer Patrols The J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Police & Security Services provides 24-hour uniformed response to calls for service, provides routine and directed patrol activities, investigates vehicle accidents, and performs investigations of criminal offenses. Uniformed security officers also assist with building security and other calls for service as necessary. The department maintains close contact with other law enforcement agencies to include: : : The Virginia State Police : : Richmond Police Department : : Henrico County Division of Police : : Goochland County Sheriff's Department. Police and Security Overview At Reynolds a safe and secure campus is a high priority. Campus awareness and cooperation, along with guidance and support of a well-trained and professional safety and security staff, help to ensure a positive learning environment. Each officer has completed training mandated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and is empowered by state law to carry firearms, conduct criminal investigations, make arrests, testify in court and all other duties expected of a law enforcement official. Security Officers are non-sworn personnel who offer assistance by responding to calls for service, taking preliminary reports and other duties as assigned. They are not empowered to make arrests or carry firearms. Investigations of Crime Our police personnel are responsible for the investigation of criminal offenses, and internal investigations. Officers are trained in the most innovative methods of investigation, and have access to the latest state of the art equipment. Departmental personnel work closely with local law enforcement agencies, the Commonweath's Attorneys Office, State Police and other law enforcement authorities. |
