Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program

Survivors and dependents programs provide education assistance family member of veterans who became permeant disabled or died from service related causes.

Ch. 35 Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program

The Survivor’s and Dependents Educational Assistance Program provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans wo are permanently and totally disabled due to service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service related condition. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits.

Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program (VMSDEP)

The Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program provides education benefits to spouses and children of military service members killed, missing in action, taken prisoner or who became at least 90 percent disabled as a result of military service in an armed conflict.

This program may pay for tuition and fees at any state-supported college or university. Benefits are available for up to four years.

To continue receiving VMSDEP benefits, qualifying enrolled student must provide a letter to the Virginia Department of Veterans Services stating their continued enrollment.
